Even facial veins and the redness of rosacea respond well to Icon aesthetic treatments.

Icon laser skin resurfacing begins below the surface

During laser skin revitalization treatments, the Icon Aesthetic System sends pulses of light below the surface of your skin to boost your skin’s health from the inside out. As the light energy reaches the deeper layers of tissue, it prompts your body to rejuvenate the underlying support structure of collagen and elastin fibers.

As you age, your body produces less collagen and elastin, which is why you get wrinkles and your skin becomes less supple than it was in your younger years. When the light energy from the Icon reaches the deeper skin tissue, your body responds by trying to heal itself. It does so by creating new collagen and elastin.

As your body attempts to heal the “damage” from the laser (which isn’t really damage at all, but your skin doesn’t know that!) new collagen and elastin cells form and rebuild skin tissue from inside. The targeted imperfections heal, while the surrounding tissue remains unharmed. As a result, you get a rejuvenated, glowing, healthier appearance with fewer visible lines and wrinkles and a more even texture.

Maximum results, minimal downtime

Although the results from the Icon laser skin resurfacing treatment aren’t immediate, they’re long-lasting. Your skin takes up to six weeks to generate new collagen and elastin, so as you build new skin cells from within, you’ll see a noticeable difference that lasts. Since the laser energy specifically targets just the damaged tissue, recovery time is minimal, and in some instances, there’s no downtime at all, so you can return to your daily activities without interruption.

You may have a pinkish appearance in the treated area immediately following your laser skin rejuvenation treatments, but this typically resolves itself within the first day after your appointment. In some cases, your skin may peel a bit, as if you have a mild sunburn. Dr. Kimzey suggests using ice packs or a topical cream to minimize any uncomfortable after effects.

Most people achieve their desired results after a series of Icon laser resurfacing treatments, but you can decide how many sessions are right for you based on Dr. Kimsey’s recommendation. And depending on the size of the area you want to improve, your appointments may take as little as 30 minutes each.

The Icon Aesthetic System makes skin resurfacing and rejuvenation possible for nearly everyone with skin concerns related to the natural aging process or your past history with the sun or acne.
